Hello! My name is Chris, a Jamaican anthropologist currently living between Jamaica and Sweden. I am a PhD Candidate in Social Anthropology at the University of Gothenburg’s School of Global Studies with an ongoing doctoral ethnographic study entitled “In This Promised Land: Development, Electoral Politics & Spirituality in St. Thomas, Jamaica”. Alongside funding from the University of Gothenburg, this research has also been funded by the Swedish Society for Anthropology & Geography and The Helge Ax:son Johnson Foundation.

Before starting my PhD journey in 2023, I worked as a secondary-level educator across the disciplines of History, Sociology & Economics in Manhattan, New York City. In Fall 2024, I joined the faculty at The University of the West Indies (Mona) as an adjunct/visiting lecturer in Sociology and Social Anthropology.
